July 2021 : It’s Getting Hot in Here

It’s getting hot in here and especially in your house ! Do you want to know the best tricks to do when there’s a heatwave ? 

First of all, don’t fall in the trap, even if it is a nice sunny day, do not open your curtains!

If you leave your curtains or blinds open all day, you are (kind of) transforming your house into a greenhouse. Don’t do this, unless you’re an exotic plant…!

Ditch the drying machine and start air drying your wet clothes, sheets, and towels. Hang them around the house, especially in bedrooms so it will cool the room. 

Stick to simple meals. Don’t start cooking carbonara pasta when there is a heat wave. Try not to use the oven and make yourself some salads and sandwiches instead. 

Same goes for the dishwasher. The dishwasher can make a hot steam effect in your house and you don’t want this to happen in the middle of a heat wave. Try to wash your dishes under cold water. 

Turn off the light and tech. If you don’t need to have everything on, you should turn it off. Light bulbs and technologic accessories will always emanate some heat. 

I shouldn’t have to say this, but just in case, get yourself multiple fans. At least one for each bedroom.

Go green! Get yourself some plants, especially the one with big greeny leaves, as they are known to cool the air. 

Lastly, if you are living in a multiple storey, try to sleep downstairs because heat always goes up. 

The heat wave is hard for everybody but with those tips, you should feel better and definetely cooler.
